Safe Road Users

Tullimbar Public School welcomes safe road users. The streets that form the perimeter of our school can become very busy during school pick up and drop off hours. Collectively pedestrians, bike users and motor vehicles can potentially create hazards for all road users.
At Tullimbar Public School we ask that all road users obey the rules of the road and exercise extreme courtesy and caution at all times.

Parking

The road surrounding our school is a narrow one way street. Please ensure you park responsibly and only park in designated parking bays, even if it means you have to walk further to the school gate. When parking and walking with your child, please ensure that your child leaves your vehicle on the kerbside via the safety door. Please refrain from encouraging students to cross the road and walk behind cars by calling them or sounding a horn. Parking on council nature strips is prohibited at all times.

Pedestrians

There are two pedestrian access gates at the front of the school. GATE 2 and GATE 3. Students from K-2 are to exit using GATE 2 while students in 3-6 are to exit school using GATE 3. When entering and exiting the school from either of the gates, pedestrians are required to cross the road via the pedestrian crossing (see photo). This is supervised by a Road Crossing Supervisor before and after school.

Always hold your child's hand when crossing. It is recommended practice until 8 years of age. Please supervise your child in the roadside environment until they reach 10 years of age. It is also good to practice "Stop, Look, Listen and Think" with your child before crossing the road.

The Main gate is unlocked during school hours for access to the administration building. All other gates are locked during school hours and will be unlocked at 2:30pm.

Bus Zone

There is a designated bus zone at the front of the school. Please exercise care around buses. Do not cross the road in between buses, always wait until the bus has gone, before crossing the road on the designated pedestrian crossing.

Safety on Wheels

Students can ride bicycles and scooters to and from school with parental permission.
Students must wear an Australian Standards fitting helmet and dismount from their bicycle or scooter at pedestrian crossings. Students must walk their bicycle or scooter on school grounds and enter and exit via the Main Gate. Bicycles must be stored in the bicycle racks, located next to the administration office at the front of the school. Students must provide their own lock.

Staff Carparks

There are two staff car parks and entry is for the use of staff only. The gates are locked during school hours.
There is a pedestrian crossing at the front of the GATE 1.  When walking across the pedestrian crossing please scan driveways for vehicles entering and exiting the staff carpark.
Construction Vehicles in our School Zone'

There will be changes to the safe entry and exit of our school during the construction and development phase of 1881. It is imperative that you pay close attention to information provided regarding the safe access to the school zone for you and your child.
Where possible avoid walking in or close to the areas under construction and follow the directions of the visible signage in and around the school zone.

Ensure you and your child are continually aware of the updated traffic arrangements and signage displayed. Please model the correct road safety practices at all times to ensure your child is exposed to the correct road safety behaviours.
